Marketing Specialist

University of Toronto Press (UTP) has an immediate opening for a Marketing Specialist for a 6-month contract position at our Dufferin and Steeles location.

The Marketing Specialist will work under the general supervision of the Vice President, Journals, and will be responsible for planning and implementing marketing strategy for projects in the Journals Division and P-Shift, UTP’s XML workflow and Digital Asset Management integration project. The Marketing Specialist will develop marketing plans and budgets, conduct market research, write and design brochures, implement direct email campaigns, contribute to social media sites, organize conference exhibits, prepare marketing activity reports, manage relationships with media and event organizers. S/he will also research and evaluate customer relationship software (CRM) and will implement and migrate existing data to the chosen CRM.

The ideal candidate will have completed a university-level program in marketing or a business degree with a marketing focus and will have at least three (3) years’ marketing experience; demonstrated research and communication (written and oral) skills; experience with social media and online marketing techniques; a good understanding of current best and practices relating to unsolicited email messages. Familiarity with Word Press, InDesign, Photoshop, HTML, XML, and Adobe Acrobat Pro are an asset.

In addition, the successful candidate must possess excellent interpersonal skills, organizational ability and must be deadline-oriented, creative, and innovative.
