TORONTO – University of Toronto Press (UTP) and the Donald Guthrie Foundation are delighted to announce that they have formed a partnership for the publication of The Guthrie Journal.
As a mission-driven non-profit, UTP continues to publish exemplary works of scholarship and to disseminate knowledge broadly for the benefit of society. The UTP-The Guthrie Journal partnership is a natural fit for both parties. UTP’s 120 years of academic publishing experience will further amplify The Guthrie Journal’s legacy of scholarly excellence by strengthening its focus on research publishing and attracting new readers and submissions from a wider North American and global audience. The addition of The Guthrie Journal supports UTP’s mission by increasing its allotment of open access research and contributions within medical and health sciences.

An open access, peer-reviewed medical journal, The Guthrie Journal publishes articles spanning a variety of medical research and current issues. The Guthrie Journal, originating as The Guthrie Clinic Bulletin, has been publishing vital medical information for nearly 100 years. With a rich history in essential medical research, the Donald Guthrie Foundation’s mission is built on innovations in patient-centered care, excellent clinical research, and continued education. This mission will also continue to be utilized as the journal’s guide.
Within its partnership with UTP, The Guthrie Journal will be published twice a year (April and October) with advanced access to accepted articles online. The journal publishes relevant original research, scoping and systematic reviews, reports on quality improvement projects, and case reports to its readership. Diverse and esteemed, contributors to The Guthrie Journal range from medical students, residents, fellows, faculty, researchers, and practitioners at all career stages and in all specialties.

Donald Guthrie Foundation Dr. Donald Guthrie founded a multispecialty group practice in 1910 in Sayre, Pennsylvania, to serve the needs of people in the surrounding rural communities of Pennsylvania and New York. Under his guidance, the Foundation was established in 1944. The nonprofit Foundation’s work has grown and evolved over the years, but it maintains Dr. Guthrie’s vision to improve the lives of patients within the Twin Tiers region by supporting medical research and education.
The Guthrie Journal has its roots in The Guthrie Clinic Bulletin, which first appeared in 1931 as a quarterly print publication. Today, it is an open access, peer-reviewed medical journal. Articles address clinical, biomedical, epidemiological advances as well as ongoing issues related to medical education.
