On May 28, 2014, Toronto Police arrested 50 members of two rival gangs that have been involved in a “series of shootings” that have spanned across the city. Acting Chief, Mark Saunders stated that the Sic Thugs and the Asian Assassins have been “incredibly ruthless”. Both gangs have made headlines in recent months for exchanging gun fire inside both the Eaton Centre and Yorkdale Mall. Police seized 10 guns, quantities of cocaine, heroin, marijuana, and cash. Saunders also revealed that cocaine presses, which are used for the manufacturing and processing of the drug, were seized.
