Throwback Thursday: The First Documented Census belongs to…Canada!

The year was 1666 when a little colony in New France along the St. Lawrence River became the first to document the citizens of their society.   Consisting of 154 manuscript pages, the document still exists today.  Take a look at the 1946 article “Beginnings In Canadian Statistics” from The Canadian Historical Review to discover the controversy this document caused! #tbt
