This week an article from The Tocqueville Review inspired a blog post on “Brainiac”, an online column affiliated with The Boston Globe. Brainiac is the daily blog of the Globe’s Sunday Ideas section.
The article that inspired this post was “Educating Tocqueville: Jared Sparks, the Boston Whigs, and Democracy in America” by Guy Aiken from TTR 34.1 and is available on Project Muse.
Aiken’s article sheds light on the contributions that a Bostonian made to Alexis de Tocqueville’s observations of American Democracy. In his blog post, Kevin Hartnett explains how this man contributed to Tocqueville’s famous text “Democracy in America.”
